First, take advantage of local resources. The Ohio Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and Ohio Secretary of State are fantastic places to start for advice, training and registration guidance. You can also tap into JobsOhio or local chambers of commerce for funding tips, mentorship and networking opportunities to grow your business.

1 | Pick the Right Business Structure Start by selecting a structure that matches your goals. Whether it’s a Sole Proprietorship, LLC, Partnership or Corporation, each comes with unique legal and financial implications. Many small businesses in Ohio favor LLCs for their simplicity and liability protection. But we always suggest you consult with a local attorney or tax professional to decide which option aligns best with your long-term Bambi vision.
2 | Register Your Business Name Got a name in mind? Ohio’s Secretary of State office lets you register your business name to make it official. Before you do, run a quick search on their Business Search Tool to confirm your name isn’t already taken. Your name should be memorable, professional and reflective of your NEMT services. It’s also a keen idea to come up with one that would work well on the search engine result pages.
